Navigating Australia's transition away from fossil fuels in-person

Date

From: Wednesday October 11, 2023, 5:30 pm

To: Wednesday October 11, 2023, 7:00 pm

Fossil fuels account for over one-quarter of Australia’s merchandise exports, and the global shift to decarbonisation could see demand contract considerably. Join us as Cedric Hodges presents the findings of this study using a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model of the Australian economy tailored to include fossil-fuel-producing sectors, workers and households.

This presentation will explore the impact of an uncompensated shock to fossil fuel demand, taking into account the announced climate policies of our major trading partners. Cedric will also look at a range of policy responses to aid workers and households through the transition.

Join us from 5:30pm for refreshments and discussion.

This event will be held in the Flinders Seminar Room, KPMG Building, 100 Melville Street Hobart - enter from Harrington Street.

The talk will commence at 6pm, followed by the opportunity to ask questions.
