Tasmanian Population Projections
From: Tuesday September 17, 2019, 5:15 pm
To: Tuesday September 17, 2019, 6:30 pm
Please join the Tasmanian Branch of the Economic Society for an event presented by Kirstan Long (Tasmanian Department of Treasury and Finance) on the 2019 population projections for Tasmania.
The projections were released in April 2019 and were prepared using an independently built projection model, called the Regional Population Projection Program (RePPP), designed by Dr Tom Wilson of Charles Darwin University, a leading Australian demographic modeller. Three series of projections have been produced, indicating high, medium and low growth scenarios.
Kirstan will outline the development of the population projections, the assumptions used regarding fertility, mortality and migration, and discuss the projection results for Tasmania and its Local Government Areas.
The event will be held on Tuesday 17 September at 5.15pm (for a 5.30pm start) in the Murray Room, Treasury Building, 21 Murray Street Hobart.
This event is free to attend but attendance is limited at 20 people, so RSVPs are essential.
