Welcome to the Tasmanian Branch of the Economic Society of Australia
The Economic Society of Australia (Tasmania Branch) Inc. (ESA-TAS) is one of seven state/territory based branches which comprise the Economic Society of Australia.
Tasmanian Branch's Membership
The Tasmanian Branch encourages anybody with an interest in economics, its application to contemporary economic issues or engaging with the economics community to join as a member. No formal qualification in economics is required. The Tasmanian Branch offers discounts for student membership.
Tasmanian Branch's Objectives
The Economic Society of Australia's main objectives is to encourage public debate and research about economic questions and to promote the study and application of economics in Australia.
To achieve these goals the Tasmanian Branch hosts activities and events that cater to both to our members and to the Tasmanian community. Specifically the Tasmanian Branch:
- hosts the annual Tasmanian Economic Forum
- conducts monthly activities and presentations
- jointly hosts the Annual Public Giblin Lecture with the University of Tasmania
- sponsors awards in the pre-tertiary and tertiary study of economics in Tasmania
